Linda, the recruitment and marketing officer at Al-Maktoum, delivered some great Developing the Young Workforce engagement at Monifieth High School.
Using her own experiences, both as an applicant and a recruiter, Linda spoke to a class of S5 pupils about the importance of personal statements and interviews, whether for university/college applications or for jobs.
Linda led discussions about why we use personal statements and how to make yours stand-out over others, as well as the clichés to avoid. Linda then explored interviews; the different types of interviews used, the best way to prepare for an interview and the things to remember on the day, including what to wear, body language and some questions to ask. The session closed with discussions about what individual strengths and skills each pupil has, and what they should include in their personal statements.
