The ILF Scotland Transition Fund provides money, for up to one year, to support young people aged 16-25 living with disabilities or impairments to improve their lives and help them to take part in their communities. The purpose of the Fund is to help these young people during transition to be more independent while continuing to spend time with other people.

Eligible young people apply for up to £7k every year and young people from Dundee and Angus are being actively encouraged to apply.

There are only a few criteria which an applicant has to meet to be eligible to apply for the Fund. These include:

  • Being between the ages of 16 and 25;
  • Having lived in Scotland for the last 6 months;
  • Having an impairment or disability;
  • Having less than £27,250 of personal savings

Please note – People who have little or no formal support from Social Work Services will be prioritised.

For more details of the eligibility criteria, please see  https://ilf.scot/transition-fund/

Some examples the fund has been awarded for include art and music lessons, technology, joining a club, driving lessons, sports equipment and much more. Read more about what young people have been applying for https://ilf.scot/fund-case-study/gemmas-story/

It can even be used for person centred planning which involves the employment of someone specifically to assist a young person plan and set goals https://ilf.scot/transition-fund/person-centred-planning-grant/
