Apprenticeship
The Scottish apprenticeship
The Scottish apprenticeship family includes three types of apprenticeships
Foundation Apprenticeships
Foundation Apprenticeships are offered to students in their fourth, fifth, or sixth year of school. They help pupils gain skills and work experience while achieving a qualification equivalent to National 4, National 5, or Higher.
Modern Apprenticeships (MAs)
Modern Apprenticeships are available at SCQF levels 5, 6, 7, and 8 and can take 1-4 years to complete, depending on the subject area. MAs involve gaining practical work experience while being assessed by either a training provider or a local college to receive the qualification aspect of the job.
Graduate Apprenticeships (GAs)
Graduate Apprenticeships begin at SCQF level 10. These apprenticeships involve working while completing an honours degree combined. GAs are a four-year-long apprenticeship, and upon completion, you will have no student debt, a full honours degree, and lots of valuable work experience.
APPRENTICESHIP VACANCIES
Apprentice ambassador Project
DYW Tay Cities also runs a fantastic Apprenticeship Ambassador Project. This involves a cohort of apprentice ambassadors who are passionate about their apprenticeship experiences and want to help inspire other young people to consider taking this career pathway. They visit schools across Tayside to deliver presentations about their journeys, attend DYW careers or apprenticeship job fairs, and participate in social media content.
