School-employer partnership Dundee award – Piperdam and Rockwell Learning Centre

How was the partnership formed?

 

This partnership was created due to Rockwell looking for an employer willing to work long-term and who would allow young people into several of their departments. This would allow their young people a varying opportunity over the course of a 6-8 week programme. This project was required to be more bespoke to cover the needs of their young people.

Winners of the MVV Challenge Fund 2019 Announced

As part of their Community Benefits programme MVV Environment Baldovie Ltd recently choose three local schools, Braeview Academy, Harris Academy and Monifieth High School as the winners of their 2019 Challenge Fund. This fund provides up to £5,000 to schools in the Dundee and Angus area for projects in the areas of engineering, construction and waste reduction.Read more


Project-based Learning Award – Nicoll Russell Studios and Grange Primary School

How did the project come about?

 

The project was led by Morag Oldham (Principal Teacher, Grange Primary) and Nicoll Russell Studios along with a local designer Linsey McIntosh (Lecturer at DJCAD and freelance designer with V&A) who helped create a brief to design a house for a multi-generational family based on their needs and wants. A linear plan was created to support teachers through the project and Nicoll Russell were available to advise and evaluate throughout, while still allowing the children to be imaginative and explore their own creativity.Read more

How was the partnership formed and how did the project come about?

 

Struan Toyota, a car dealership based in Dundee, contacted DYW about wanting to work with young people. The offer was circulated to local schools and St Paul’s RC Academy was one of the schools who jumped at the opportunity.Read more
