Learn on the Land at Abercairney Estate
Pupils from schools across Perth and Kinross had the chance to get hands on with rural skills as part of the Learn on the Land day, hosted by Tayside and central moorland group and Lantra at the beautiful Abercairney Estate.
Throughout the day, young people took part in a brilliant range of workshops designed to showcase rural careers and life in the countryside. From holding lambs and learning about animal husbandry, to trying their hand at fly fishing, shooting, and even participating in gundog training – this was rural learning at its most engaging.
The pupils also enjoyed a BBQ lunch, where they were treated to delicious venison burgers prepared by the estate staff – a great opportunity to experience field-to-fork in action.
The event opened pupils’ eyes to the breadth of career paths in the rural sector, from gamekeeping and land management to conservation and agriculture. It was a fantastic day full of learning, laughter and new experiences – and one we know they’ll remember for a long time!
