Fashion Accessories Design Challenge
As part of Dundee’s first ever Fashion Week we are calling all secondary school children to design an accessory which will be 3D printed by Concept Group Ltd and worn by models in the Dundee Fashion Week Finale on the catwalk. The Dundee Fashion Week Finale is at the Caird Hall on Sunday 13th May.
Challenge;
Design an accessory that will be 3D printed in a single colour and worn as part of the Dundee Fashion Week finale catwalk. (Accessory can be; jewellery, hat, glasses, watches, clutch bag, or sunglasses.)
The top 5 designs will be 3D printed and worn in the finale.
From these 5 an overall winner will be chosen.
What;
Produce an A4 colour sketch of your design (including indication of size and texture) and a description.
As the design will be 3D printed the accessory must be a single colour. The colours that can be printed are; Black, White, Red, Green, Orange, Blue, Yellow, Brown or Purple.
The description should be no longer than one paragraph and something which could accompany the product on a website as marketing i.e. who is the target audience, what occasion is the accessory designed for, what was the inspiration, etc.
How;
Any young person at secondary school is eligible to enter.
Designs must be submitted to a designated contact in each secondary school.
Each school can send a maximum of 10 individual entries to the judging panel.
Entries must be submitted to the judging panel no later than Saturday 31st March 2018.
Each entry must contain; Name of designer, Age and year group of designer, School designer attends and contact teacher’s name.
Prize;
The top 5 designs will see their designs created and modelled at Dundee’s fashion week finale on Sunday 13th May.
The overall winner will win a workshop for their school on how to design for and use a 3D printer.
Why;
Taking part in this competition will be a brilliant opportunity for young people to develop their creativity. It will help them develop their communication skills and their ability to work to a brief and a deadline. They will also gain insight into the huge range of careers that exist within the fashion and creative industries and the cross over between industries and skill sets.
