Growing the Young Person’s Guarantee

First organisations sign up.

The first organisations to back the £60 million Young Person’s Guarantee have been announced by Economy Secretary Fiona Hyslop. 

In a collective effort to help young people, the Scottish Government has been joined by SSE, Capgemini, NHS Lothian, Scottish Water and Standard Life Aberdeen in the commitment to ensure everyone aged between 16 and 24 has the opportunity of work, education or training.

DYW Equalities Campaign

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) 21 regional groups are preparing to launch an equalities focused week of events and social media campaign across Scotland on w/c Monday 16th November 2020. The week campaign will be aimed at employers, parents and young people that promotes, illustrates and celebrates diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Cash for Kids - School Mission!

Win a Q&A session and virtual studio tour with Radio Tay Presenters for your class!

Cash for Kids have partnered with DYW to invite Primary and Secondary schools to take part in two exciting missions. This project will really help with Mission Christmas' fundraising appeal and hopefully offer pupils an insight into different careers in fundraising, marketing and graphic design.

The ILF Scotland Transition Fund

The ILF Scotland Transition Fund provides money, for up to one year, to support young people aged 16-25 living with disabilities or impairments to improve their lives and help them to take part in their communities. The purpose of the Fund is to help these young people during transition to be more independent while continuing to spend time with other people.

DYW Key Workers

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) 21 regional groups are coming together to launch an awareness campaign across Scotland showcasing roles within the key sectors to make young people more aware of the types of jobs involved and what skills/qualities would be required.

School-employer partnership Angus award – Balhousie Care Group, Monkbarns and Arbroath Academy

How was this partnership formed?

 

This partnership began when Ailsa from the DYW team met with Monkbarns where it was discovered they would like to do more with young people to try and get them interested in a career in care.

School-employer partnership Dundee award – Piperdam and Rockwell Learning Centre

How was the partnership formed?

 

This partnership was created due to Rockwell looking for an employer willing to work long-term and who would allow young people into several of their departments. This would allow their young people a varying opportunity over the course of a 6-8 week programme. This project was required to be more bespoke to cover the needs of their young people.
