On August 8th, exam results day in Scotland, the DYW team, board members, colleagues and partners joined in a national social media campaign called #nowrongpath to show young people that there is no wrong path to where you want to go in life.

The campaign was devised by colleagues in DYW Glasgow to convey the message to young people that you don’t have to take the obvious or traditional path to an interesting job. To take part in the campaign all you had to do was take a picture of yourself telling us your name, what you did when you left school, what you’re doing now and then post it on social media with the hashtag #nowrongpath.

The campaign was a tremendous success and while we are still waiting for full analytics, we know that #nowrongpath trended on Twitter in the UK and Ireland all day, and had reached 2 million people by noon.

We saw our friends share some great examples that really showed there is indeed #nowrongpath, including Sarah Young, who is now Events + Marketing Manager at Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce but who originally left school to do an NC in Beauty Therapy and Roy O’Kane who now runs one of the largest sports clubs in the area, Kanzen Karate, but was told at school that karate was a waste of time!

A huge thanks to everyone who took part and sent such a positive and inspiring message to young people across the country.
